Andy Warhol was born on August 6, 1928 in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. His parents were immigrants from Miko which is northeast Slovakia. His father worked in a coal mine and his mother stayed home. he had two older brothers Pavol and Jan. He went to Schenley high school and graduated in 1945. He then attended the Carnegie Institute of Technology. in the 1950's, the beginning of his career, he was dedicated to commercial and advertising art. Some of his best known works include the silkscreen paintings Campbell's Soup Cans (1962) and Marilyn Diptych (1962), and the experimental film Chelsea Girls (1966).
He is now a well known artist and is very famous. Someone once paid 105 millions dollars for one of his paintings. He died February 22, 1987. He also started a the pop art movement.
