Tossing and Turing I lie awake in my bed. My phone is next to me on my night stand charging for tomorrow. I have been lying awake for about an hour thoughts racing though my head. I think about picking the phone up to distract myself until I am finally able to fall asleep, I don't though. I look at the clock 1 am it reads. I have 5 more hours of sleep I tell myself. That should be enough sleep to get through the day. I close my eyes trying to think of something else. Something besides me. I often think of my creek or warm summer days but it always strays away. I start think about the future. What I am going to have to do, what I am going to have to be. I get nervous and can't stop thinking about it. It consumes me. I open my eyes again 2 am the clock reads.
You are not alone in this tossing, turning, wondering, worrying...I like what you said about turning to thoughts of " my creek or warm summer days" to settle your mind.
