Flea Market Photos

This picture is of all the butlers that worked at
the Kensington house hold in 1935. The house has had a total of 85 butlers come and go through out the house but there are only 11 still alive when this picture was taken. William James is the curtain butler at the Kensington house he is the one on the far left fist row. He has been working at the Kensington house for only 6 months. He invited all the butlers from the past to come to a lunch hosted by the Kensington family. The Kensington family consists of Stephen Kensington and his two young daughters Elle and June. Elle is 12 years old and June is 10. They both joined the lunch in and were able to see some of their old butlers. It was actually Elle’s idea to take the photo of all the butlers and was able to get them all to take a photo together.  At the lunch in all the butlers were able to exchange stories and talk with one another about serving the Kensington’s.  Some of the butlers were able to tell Elle and June stories about their mother who dies when Ella was 8 and June was 6. They were able to tell stories of their mother’s childhood because they had served her when she was young.  The girl’s faces were pure joy being able to her about their mother. Their father, Stephen, was there at the lunch in too. He kept to himself mostly. Letting the butlers get to connect and share their stories. He loved getting to here stories about his wife. The Kensington’s have never had such a lovely lunch in.
